Plays:

Legend of Zorro over 13.5 (-140) <1.4/1> WSEX
The Weather Man under 7.5 (-150) <1.5/1> WSEX

The Legend of Zorro - The first one did well at the box office grossing over 22.5 million opening weekend and 94 million during its domestic run. The sequel has been given a lower PG rating which should bring the families in. Also, it is opening very wide (over 3,500 theaters). Although I don't see it reaching the heights of its predessor, it should debut with about 17.5 million.

The Weather Man - Much like North Country last week, this line is way off. This movie has had its release date pushed back for a long time, which basically means the movie is sh*t and they are looking for a weekend with not a lot of competition to release it. Bad weekend to pick! With it only given a moderate release (1,500 theaters), it may be able to gross 4.5 million this weekend. Easily the best play so far!

Good luck all!

Ummmm..... North Country line was off by 0.08 million. How could that be even remotely considered "way off"?

This week, Zorro line is accurate, and Weatherman is a tad high.

Good luck on your plays.

James - The line itself for North Country was dead on you are correct, however, what I meant was that "I" felt the line was off. I felt it should have been closer to 7.5-10 million (which meant it would have had to make 3,000 to 4,000 per location which I thought was reasonable, obviously though, the movie wasn't as popular as I and other websites thought it would be). I happened to be wrong last week, but this week I was almost dead on with my predictions. I felt the Zorro line should have been about 14-17.5 million and Weatherman should have been about 4.5 million. Granted that is easy to say because the estimates are already out, however, when I posted, I estimated what I thought both movies would make and I was off less than 1 million for each one. Thanks for the post though, as I welcome thoughts and opinions.

This weekend was almost exactly how I thought it would go. Both bets cashed relatively easy and were very close to my predictions. The Legend of Zorro opened with 16.3 million which was a little below what I thought, but still close nonetheless. The Weather Man opened with 4.2 million, which was very close to my prediction. Next weekend I may have a play on Chicken Little depending on the line as I believe that is going to have a HUGE weekend. Hopefully I will have my play(s) up late thursday night/early friday morning.
